VNU collaborates with a leading Russian university to launch a Master's program in Quantum Communications

In order to implement the cooperation agreement between VNU and Moscow Technical University of Communications and Informatics (MTUCI), the Russian Federation, the two institutions have agreed to launch a joint Master's program in Quantum Communications. This is the first international joint Master's program implemented by MTUCI abroad.

As the world enters a race of quantum technologies - a field regarded as the foundation of the next generation of technological advancement, VNU affirms its pioneer role by launching an international joint Master's program in Quantum Communications with Moscow Technical University of Communications and Informatics. This is the first time a Vietnamese higher education institution has partnered with a foreign university to formally offer a degree program in Quantum Communications - a convergence of information technology, quantum physics, and telecommunications security.

Previously, on October 15, 2024, VNU President Le Quan and MTUCI President Erokhin Sergey Dmitrievich signed a cooperation agreement between the two institutions. The launch of the joint Master’s program in Quantum Communications marks a significant milestone in deepening and substantiating the partnership between the two universities, while directly contributing to Vietnam’s high-tech human resources development.

The joint Master's program in Quantum Communications plays a vital role in developing Vietnam's high-quality human resources, advancing scientific research, and promoting the application of cutting-edge technologies.

The program equips students with in-depth knowledge of quantum mechanics, quantum key distribution, quantum networking, and quantum communication protocols. It aims to cultivate a new generation of experts capable of designing, deploying, and managing quantum communication systems, addressing the society’s growing demand for highly skilled professionals in high-tech industries, such as cybersecurity, telecommunications, and quantum computing.

By joining this program, students will access a modern, globally updated curriculum and have the opportunity to study in English while engaging in hands-on research under the mentorship of international experts.

The program encourages students to participate in research projects focused on developing novel security protocols, optimizing quantum networks, or integrating quantum communications with other emerging technologies (AI and IoT). This serves as a bridge between academic theory and real-world industry needs, supporting the national objectives in quantum technology development and cybersecurity.

The launch of the joint Master’s program represents a concrete, effective, and strategic step in VNU’s roadmap toward the internationalization of education. The curriculum, developed by MTUCI, adheres to the Russian national standards, is aligned with global quantum technology trends, and has been adapted to the Vietnamese context; its implementation at VNU is a clear manifestation of “internationalization at home”, bringing international standards into Vietnam.
