This list was compiled by a group of scientists from Stanford University (USA), based on the data from the Scopus database. The evaluation method relied on such scientific impact indicators as total number of citations (excluding self-citations), the Hirsch h-index, the Schreiber hm-index, citations for papers as sole author, first or corresponding author, and last author.
The results were drawn from the data covering more than 7 million cited scientists in the Scopus database. The list was categorized into 22 scientific fields and 174 subfields according to the Science-Metrix classification standard.
If a scientist’s name appears in the Stanford–Elsevier World’s Top Scientists rankings in 2025, it signifies that their field of research has a strong influence, widely referenced and highly valued by international peers for its importance and usefulness in scientific inquiry.
According to this year’s ranking, Prof.Dr.Sci. Nguyen Dinh Duc rose to 51st place in the field of Engineering, while Prof.Dr. Tran Xuan Bach was ranked 113th in Public Health.
These proudworthy achievements have once again affirmed the international recognition of VNU’s scientists within the global scientific community. They also reflect the outcomes of Vietnam’s fundamental and comprehensive reforms in higher education, and science and technology, which are increasingly integrating with the world’s advanced levels and research directions.
