VNU has always been one of the leading domestic institutions in terms of the number of research works published annually, of which the number of VNU’s ISI and/or SCOPUS indexed journal articles is continuously increasing. In 2019, the number of VNU’s ISI and/or SCOPUS indexed journal articles reached as many as 874.
In 2019, according to VNU's V-CitationGate system’s 2019 citation index of Vietnam's online scientific journals, VNU had 10 out of the 30 ranked journals. In addition, on December 16, 2019, VNU Journal of Science: Advanced Materials and Devices (JSAMD) was selected to officially feature in the Web of Science SCIE (Science Citation Index Expanded) and is currently the only Vietnamese journal indexed in SCIE.
