Vietnam – Russia economic forum 2026: Unleashing internal strengths in the new era

On April 8, 2026, the Vietnam – Russia Economic Forum 2026 (VREF 2026) will take place in Hanoi in a hybrid format (in-person and online).

Building on the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the Russian Federation (1950–2025), the event focuses on promoting academic and policy dialogue on economic development and bilateral cooperation.

The Forum is jointly organized by the VNU University of Economics and Business (VNU-UEB), the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, and the Vietnam – Russia Friendship Association (VIRUFA).

Participants are expected to include leaders of government agencies, representatives of diplomatic missions of both countries, leaders of universities and research institutes, scholars, experts in economics and public policy, as well as representatives from the business community and interested learners.

At the Forum, discussions will focus on key topics such as endogenous growth models, opportunities for Vietnam–Russia trade and investment cooperation, potential areas including energy, logistics, finance, and green transition, as well as the role of science, technology, innovation, and human resource development.

Notably, the International Conference Proceedings will be officially launched, featuring selected academic contributions from scholars both domestically and internationally.

Key Speakers and Presentations

The Forum will feature distinguished scholars presenting on critical economic issues, including:

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Oleg Bodiagin – global value chain dynamics and national competitiveness;

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Chien Thang – Vietnam–EAEU trade and investment cooperation;

Prof. Dr. Boris Rubtsov – financial markets and economic growth;

Dr. Nguyen Quynh Trang – determinants of Vietnam’s economic growth;

Prof. Dr. Konstantin Simonov – global energy transition;

Dr. Nguyen Thi Anh Tuyet – Vietnam–Russia energy cooperation;

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Babich Stanislav Vitalievich – food, energy, and transport security.
