The Taiwan Semiconductor Career Day 2026 was successfully held at the VNU University of Science (VNU-HUS), Vietnam National University, Hanoi. The event attracted tremendous interest from a large number of students, scholars, and industry representatives. More than just opening doors to career opportunities in Taiwan’s “Silicon Valley,” the program also reaffirmed VNU-HUS’s leading role in training high-quality human resources for the semiconductor industry - a strategic sector in the digital technology era.
In his opening remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ngac An Bang, Vice Rector of VNU University of Science, emphasized that the enthusiastic participation of students reflects the growing attractiveness and importance of the semiconductor industry today.
“Over the past five years, cooperation between VNU-HUS and Taiwanese partners has flourished remarkably. With strong academic foundations in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, and Electronics, we are committed to continuing our mission as a leading provider of high-quality human resources capable of meeting the demanding requirements of the global market,” Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ngac An Bang stated.
This year’s event was particularly notable for bringing together a comprehensive semiconductor ecosystem, ranging from education and research institutions to chip design, manufacturing, packaging, and testing enterprises.
Leading industry corporations included semiconductor giants such as MediaTek and Realtek Semiconductor (chip design); UMC and Vanguard International Semiconductor (VIS) (chip manufacturing); Micron Taiwan (memory technology); as well as major packaging and testing companies including Powertech Technology Inc. (PTI) and Siliconware Precision Industries (SPIL).
Prestigious academic institutions were represented by six top Taiwanese universities seeking talented students: National Taiwan University (NTU), National Tsing Hua University (NTHU), National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU), National Taipei University of Technology (NTUT), and I-Shou University (ISU).
Prof. Jyh-Ming Ting from National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), who has collaborated with VNU-HUS for more than 12 years, expressed his admiration for Vietnam’s rapid development and the outstanding quality of its students.
“Students of VNU University of Science are not only talented but also highly hardworking and motivated. This cooperation is truly a win-win relationship. We are not only training talents for Taiwan but also helping cultivate high-quality human resources who can later return and contribute to Vietnam, just as some of my former students are now contributing to Viettel after completing their doctoral studies in Taiwan,” Prof. Ting shared.
According to Prof. Ting, as Taiwan’s semiconductor industry continues to expand rapidly, the government has increased labor quotas, creating nearly unlimited opportunities for Vietnamese students, who are recognized for their adaptability and fast language-learning abilities.
At the booth of National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU), a top-200 global university, Prof. Pham Thi Nhu Nguyet introduced several attractive academic pathways:
- Master’s and PhD Programs: research-oriented programs in advanced laboratories, where applicants can directly apply to internationally recognized research groups;
- Intense Program: an industry-integrated master’s program offering tuition waivers, monthly stipends, and guaranteed employment opportunities after graduation;
- Overseas Program: a flexible study model in which students begin their studies at VNU-HUS and complete their research training in Taiwan.
