Implemented since 2001, the program has continuously delivered 24 cohorts with more than 500 graduates from many countries around the world, including France, Spain, Italy, Romania, various African and Asian countries, Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam. International students account for an overwhelming majority, at approximately 95% (including 85% from Europe and 10% from other regions worldwide). In addition, the teaching staff is also highly international, with 75% of lecturers coming from France, contributing to a European-standard learning environment in Vietnam. Over more than two decades of steadfast pursuit of academic excellence and internationalization, the program has become a flagship symbol of Vietnam–France educational cooperation, while also fostering a diverse multinational academic community.
On June 11, 2026, VNU University of Law held the graduation ceremony for the 24th cohort of the Master’s Program in International Economic and Business Law. This cohort also marks the final intake of the current phase of cooperation between the University of Law, VNU, and three French partner universities: the University of Bordeaux, Jean Moulin Lyon 3 University, and Toulouse Capitole University.
Building on the achieved results, the parties have agreed to extend the cooperation for an additional five years. VNU has also continued to authorize the University of Law to implement the program in this new phase.

According to Associate Professor Nguyen Hoang Anh, Vice Rector of VNU University of Law, the most outstanding achievement of the program is that it has trained more than 500 high-quality master’s graduates from many countries around the world.
“What is special is that the majority of students are international learners from various developing countries in Europe, Asia, and Africa. It can be said that this is one of the international law programs with the highest level of nationality diversity in Vietnam today,” Mrs. Nguyen Hoang Anh said.
The distinctive feature of the program lies in its sustainable model of international cooperation between VNU and three prestigious French law schools. Under VNU’s authorization, the University of Law directly signs and implements cooperation agreements with the University of Bordeaux, Jean Moulin Lyon 3 University, and Toulouse Capitole University. The master’s degree is awarded on a rotational basis by one of the three French partner universities, ensuring the program’s international value and academic reputation.
Beyond training high-quality human resources, the program also serves as a bridge for transmitting modern legal thought and emerging trends in European law, particularly French law, to Vietnam and the region.

Commenting on the significance of the program, VNU Vice President Dao Thanh Truong stated that this is one of the most successful and sustainable international cooperative training programs of VNU. “Not only contributing to the training of high-quality legal professionals, the program has also built a multicultural academic environment where learners are exposed to different legal systems, engage with international experts, and experience advanced European training standards right in Vietnam,” emphasized Assoc.Prof Dao Thanh Truong.
In the context where International Trade Law is increasingly becoming an important field of education and research in Vietnam, the program is expected to have further strong development opportunities. In the long-term vision, Rector of VNU University of Law Nguyen Tien Vinh hopes that the program will evolve into a reputable training and research hub in international business law in Southeast Asia, attracting an increasing number of international students and researchers, particularly from developing countries.

“If over the past 25 years the program has served as a bridge between Vietnam and France, then in the next 25 years, we expect it to become a bridge connecting Vietnam, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific region. This is also how VNU University of Law fulfills its mission: to train high-quality legal professionals, promote international integration, and contribute to Vietnam’s development in an increasingly interconnected world”, Rector Nguyen Tien Vinh stated.
