In its strategy to build an elite university, VNU identifies outstanding scientists as a decisive factor in strengthening its research capacity, fostering innovation, and enhancing the quality of education and training. The Program for attracting and developing outstanding scientists and visiting professors for the 2026-2030 period is designed to establish a competitive mechanism for attracting leading scientists from Vietnam and around the world, while linking investment resources to specific scientific and technological missions and deliverables.
The Program was approved by VNU President under Decision No. 3536/QĐ-ĐHQGHN dated July 15, 2026, on the basis of integrating, building upon, and further developing the programs and policies previously implemented to attract outstanding scientists, develop internationally benchmarked strong research groups, and engage visiting professors.
A key feature of the Program is its approach of linking scientists with research groups, science and technology tasks, research infrastructure, and tangible outputs. Through this approach, VNU aims to establish scientific hubs capable of leading strategic research directions and generating a ripple effect across the entire university system.
