THE Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026: VNU advances in the “Decent Work and Economic Growth” Sustainable Development Goal

On June 24, 2026, the Times Higher Education (THE) announced the results of the Times Higher Education Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026. Accordingly, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) was featured among the 601-800 institutions globally. Notably, by Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 8 - Decent Work and Economic Growth, VNU was placed in the 101-200 bracket globally.

In this year’s edition, VNU continued to expand its participation in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to 12 SDGs. Among these, VNU improved its performance in 8 out of its 9 previously evaluated SDGs. Notably, VNU’s SDG 9 - Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure and SDG 12 - Responsible Consumption and Production, although assessed for the first time, both gained positions in the 201-300 bracket globally.

Among the VNU’s previously assessed SDGs, SDG 5 - Gender Equality recorded its advancement for three consecutive times, currently placed in the global 201-300 bracket. This achievement reflects VNU’s sustained commitment to promoting gender equality and fostering an inclusive, human-centered environment for learning and research, which supports the holistic development of its community.

Particularly noteworthy was VNU’s remarkable performance in SDG 8 - Decent Work and Economic Growth, which advanced the University to the 101-200 bracket globally. This result clearly reflects VNU’s growing contribution to the development of high-quality human resources, the advancement of knowledge for socio-economic development, and its commitment to integrating higher education, scientific research, innovation, and sustainable development.

Specifically, VNU’s performance across the Sustainable Development Goals in the THE Impact Ratings 2026 is as follows:

SDG 1 – No Poverty: placed in the 401 -600 bracket globally, out of 931 participating higher education institutions;

SDG 4 – Quality Education: placed in the 401-600 bracket globally, out of 1,335 participating institutions;

SDG 5 – Gender Equality: placed in the 201-300 bracket globally, out of 1,095 participating institutions;

SDG 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth: placed in the 101-200 bracket globally, out of 1,003 participating institutions;

SDG 9 – Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure: placed in the 201-300 bracket globally, out of 826 participating institutions;

SDG 10 – Reduced Inequalities: placed in the 401-600 bracket globally, out of 932 participating institutions;

SDG 11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities: placed in the 301-400 bracket globally, out of 865 participating institutions;

SDG 14 – Life below Water: placed in the 101-200 bracket globally, out of 561 participating institutions;

SDG 15 – Life on Land: placed in the 201-300 bracket globally, out of 658 participating institutions;

SDG 16 – Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions: placed in the 201-300 bracket globally, out of 914 participating institutions;

SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals: placed in the 601-800 bracket globally, out of 1,610 participating institutions.
