8. Major: Oceanography                                                            9. Code: 9440228.01

10. Supervisors:

Main Advisor: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Doan Van Bo

Parts Advisor: Dr. Chu Tien Vinh

11. Summary of the new findings of the thesis:

- To compile, verify and standardize the oceanographic data set for marine fisheries in the Tonkin Gulf, including structures of marine hydrodynamics and marine environments, and small fishing yields. This is a comprehensive, synchronous and comprehensive set of oceanographic data for fisheries in the Tonkin Gulf up to this point.

- Quantitative correlations were identified between the density of small pelagic fish (CPUA:kg/km2) with structures of hydrodynamic and marine environments in the western waters of the Tonkin Gulf.

-  For the first time, the thesis has provided forecasts of fishing grounds for the small pelagic fish species in the study area of the months from 2015 to 2016. It is possible to continue to apply the studies of the thesis Project in the forecast of fishing grounds in the coming years.

12. Practical applicability, if any:

- The results of this thesis have added scientific basis and scientific arguments about the distribution and fluctuation of fish stocks (seasons, depths of fishing grounds, ecological conditions, etc.). Considering the hydrodynamic and environmental characteristics of the study area, it also contributes to the modernization of the fisheries information system in Vietnam

-  It is predicted that fisheries exploiting small pelagic fish in Tonkin Gulf will prove good. Applying the research of the thesis into the forecast of fishing grounds provided to fishermen will help reduce costs, time to find fishing grounds, reduce the pressure on mining to other subjects being reported. overfishing, contributing with fishermen working on the sea and protecting the sovereignty of the sea island of the country

13. Further research directions, if any:

- Research and develop a more detailed forecast of small fishery fisheries (10 days, and weekly) to provide timely, accurate information in accordance with typical fishing practices in VBB. is a short sea (day, or 3-4 days, or a week).

- Continuing to study and improve models and procedures to advance fishing operations in small bay fisheries in the Tonkin Gulf, updating fisheries data, oceanographic data, especially in the months ( 2, 3, and 9), there is little data available to establish fishing grounds for all months.
