7. Official thesis title: Research on utilization of Zeolite and Bentonite minerals for immobilizing Pb in agricultural soil in Van Lam district, Hung Yen province.
8. Major: Soil and Water Environment 9. Code: 9440301.02
10. Supervisors: Asso.Prof. Nguyen Ngoc Minh and Dr. Trinh Quang Huy.
11. Summary of the new findings of the thesis
- The study has evaluated the effects of the addition of Zeolite and Bentonite minerals on the mobility of Pb in paddy soils; the ability to reduce Pb accumulation in rice plant and in rice; and the assessments the impact of these minerals on the growth of experimental rice plant.
- The study has evaluated the extractable forms of Pb that plants can absorb in the paddy soil, including the exchange bound, carbonate bound and Fe-Mn oxides bound. The study has also found that the paddy soil contains a large amount of PhytPb (the Pb form in the phytolith structure in rice straw) as a result of the process of returning straw (Pb contamination) to the soil. The results of this study may be a prerequisite for proposing solutions to manage and treat Pb-contaminated rice straw.
12. Pratical applicability, if any: Application of Zeolite and Bentonite minerals to limit the mobility of Pb in paddy soils.
13. Further research directions, if any:
