The International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO) 2019 features a silver medalist from VNU University of Science (HUS) High School for Gifted Students

On July 20, 2019, according to the Ministry of Education and Training, all the six Vietnamese students taking part in the 60th International Mathematical Olympiad in the United Kingdom won medals including 2 golds and 4 silvers. Nguyen Kha Nhat Long, a student from VNU HUS High School for Gifted Students won a silver medal.

The two gold medalists are Nguyen Nguyen from the High School for the Gifted under Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City and Nguyen Thuan Hung from Tran Phu High School for the Gifted (Hai Phong city).

The other silver medalists are Vuong Tung Duong from Vinh Phuc High School for the Gifted, Vu Duc Vinh from Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted (Nghe An province) and Phan Minh Duc from Hanoi-Amsterdam High School for the Gifted.

This year, Vietnam placed 7/110 participating countries and territories, up 13 places, behind China (ranked No. 1), the US, South Korea, Korea, Thailand and Russia.
