6. Changes in academic process:
7. Official thesis title: Research on the characteristics and origin of the geothermal source in My Lam, Tuyen Quang province.
8. Major: Mineralogy and Geochemistry 9. Code: 9440201.02
10. Supervisors Main advisor: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Van Tich
Assistant Advisor: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Pho
11. Summary of the new findings of the thesis:
- The thesis establishes a geothermal basin model with a geological structure – geochemical system characterized by the thermal fluid temperature in the research area using a new approach with two main factors: structural geology and geochemistry, called the 2G model (Geology - Geochemistry).
- For the first time, the temperature of the geothermal source in the deep reservoir in this area has been calculated based on different geothermometric methods. Accordingly, the average temperature of My Lam geothermal reservoir is 208oC.
- Established the origin of the thermal fluid in the research is of meteorological origin, heated from the activities of magma rocks and young metamorphic rocks in the Cenozoic Era.
12. Practical applicability:
The research findings of the thesis provide a basis for localities with additional options to exploit geothermal energy sources from mineral water and hot water (energy), especially the deep energy that can be used for electricity generation.
13. Further research directions:
- Investigate the rules of occurrence, manifestation, and evaluation of the potential geothermal sources within the deep faulted zone of the Red River.
- Develop a model to evaluate the potential geothermal sources using geochemical and isotopic indicators applicable to the region and the entire territory of Vietnam.
