VNU and University College Dublin promote the establishment of a Coordination Office for activities in Hoa Lac

On August 5, 2025, VNU Permanent Vice President Nguyen Hieu had a meeting with Mr. Robert Reid, Chief Financial Officer of University College Dublin - UCD (Ireland).

VNU Vice President Nguyen Hieu expressed his belief that, as VNU is undergoing a strong transformation toward becoming an innovation-driven university, founded on science and technology and closely linked to socio-economic development; international cooperation, especially with such prestigious innovation hubs as University College Dublin, plays a crucial role. He hoped that, in the coming time, VNU and UCD would promote comprehensive cooperation in research and innovation, training, and exchanges in areas of mutual interest, as well as deepen collaboration related to university town development.

Mr. Robert Reid expressed his appreciation for the achievements in cooperation between VNU and UCD in recent years, especially in the context that the senior leaders of both Vietnam and Ireland have highly valued the partnerships between the two countries’ leading higher education institutions. Such partnerships, he noted, have been contributing to improving training quality, developing high-quality human resources, and fostering scientific research and innovation. He hoped that VNU’s leadership would facilitate the implementation of collaboration between its units and those of UCD, with a view to enhancing the development capacity of both institutions and delivering high-quality services to society.

Mrs. Suzi Jarvis, Founding Director of UCD Innovation Academy, expressed her admiration for the spacious, green campus of VNU in Hoa Lac and shared her desire to jointly create a comprehensive and sustainable innovation ecosystem where learners, lecturers, staff, managers, and businesses from both Vietnam and Ireland are central partners. She emphasized that true innovation only has real significance when it is co-created by all stakeholders, aiming toward sustainable, equitable development and delivering genuine value to the community.

VNU Vice President Nguyen Hieu emphasized that, after more than three years since VNU officially relocated its headquarters to Hoa Lac, VNU University Town has been gradually transforming its landscape and steadily turning into a green–smart–modern university town. This development has opened up new growth spaces, creating momentum for breakthroughs in VNU’s training, scientific research, and knowledge transfer activities. He noted that VNU has been entrusted with the pioneering role in public–private partnership (PPP) cooperation, and shared that VNU is establishing academic units and interdisciplinary research centers in Hoa Lac. He hoped that UCD would have a presence on this campus to jointly implement training and research projects.

During the meeting, the two sides also discussed the establishment of a Hoa Lac-based VNU–UCD Cooperation Office.
