VNU and Sungkyunkwan University exchanged the cooperation agreement documents in the presence of General Secretary To Lam and Korean Prime Minister Kim Min Seok

On August 12, 2025, VNU and Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU) exchanged the cooperation documents in the presence of General Secretary To Lam and Korean Prime Minister Kim Min Seok.

As part of General Secretary To Lam’s State visit to the Republic of Korea, on August 12, at the Vietnam-Korea Economic Forum themed “Cooperation in Developing Production Chains in the New Era!”, General Secretary To Lam and Korean Prime Minister Kim Min Seok, together with senior delegates from both countries, witnessed the signing of several Vietnam - Korea cooperation agreements, including  the cooperation agreement between VNU and Sungkyunkwan University, and the agreement between VNU University of Engineering and Technology and KEPCO KDN Co., Ltd. on cooperation in training high-quality human resources, faculty exchanges, applied research, and technology transfer, particularly in the fields of semiconductors, biotechnology, and biomedicine.

The presence of General Secretary To Lam and Korean Prime Minister Kim Min Seok at the signing ceremony of the cooperation agreement between VNU and Sungkyunkwan University affirms the attention, support, and high expectations of the senior leaders of both countries while Vietnam - Korea cooperation in education, science, and technology is flourishing. In particular, the two nations have agreed to further expand educational cooperation, explore collaboration in training human resources in technology, and welcome the strengthening of partnerships between Vietnamese higher education institutions and Korean universities and enterprises.

The cooperation agreement between VNU and SKKU lays the foundation for a diverse partnership, ranging from student and faculty exchanges to joint scientific research and the development of interdisciplinary training programs. It contributes to concretizing the internationalization strategies of both institutions and to developing high-quality human resources.

Talking with Sungkyunkwan University President Prof. Ji-Beom Yoo, VNU President Prof. Le Quan highly valued SKKU’s strengths as an educational institution with a history of more than 600 years and as one of Korea’s leading innovation hubs. Combined with VNU’s multidisciplinary strengths, extensive research network, and pioneering role in Vietnam, this cooperation is expected to generate valuable scientific outcomes and training programs that contribute to the socio-economic development of both countries.

Prof. Le Quan and Prof. Ji-Beom Yoo expressed their desire for VNU and SKKU sharing experiences in governance, advanced training models, and modern university management. They also agreed to collaborate in developing programs and projects on digital transformation; organize conferences and workshops to exchange expertise in applied technologies; and enhance the capacity of educational administrators and faculty members. Both leaders expect the two universities to leverage their roles and positions in designing joint training and research programs as well as technology transfer, particularly in the fields of semiconductors, biotechnology, and biomedicine.

Furthermore, in the coming period, VNU and SKKU will strongly promote cooperation activities involving the participation of enterprises. This will help make joint programs more practical, expand internship and employment opportunities for students, foster bilateral technology transfer, and establish a State-University-Enterprise cooperation network to align resources and effectively meet market demands.
