ASEAN in Today's World (AsTW) 2017 Program's Closing Ceremony

On March 17, 2017, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) held the closing ceremony for the program "ASEAN in Today's World (AsTW) 2017".

Speaking at the ceremony, VNU University of Science (VNU HUS) Rector Nguyễn Văn Nội sent his congratulations to the participants in AsTW 2017 two-week training program and activities. With the knowledge and experience gained from the program, VNU HUS Rector hoped that the students would be ambassadors to effectively contribute to the peace and prosperity of the ASEAN Community as well as ASEAN+3 cooperation.

The Rector also hoped that AsTW would continue to be a platform for students to connect, exchange and share their responsibilities for the regional and global issues.

At the ceremony, Kyushu University Vice President Yuji Soejima expressed his pleasure to collaborate with VNU in organizing this meaningful program. He also highly appreciated VNU’s staff and lecturers for their efforts and enthusiasm as well as the students for their hard work.

Sharing his feeling and experiences when participating in AsTW 2017, Muhammad Nor Bin Abdul Rashid said, “AsTW 2017 is one of the most memorable experiences in my life. We spent two weeks together with various pleasure and interesting experience”. Sending a message to other students, Muhammad Nor Bin Abdul Rashid emphasized, “As young leaders, you and I will continue sharing, studying and striving to realize our dreams and ambitions for a prosperous ASEAN’’.

As for Makoto Kimura from Japan, she said, “On the first days of the program, I was so nervous wondering whether I could socialize with others and whether I would be able to make myself understood. However, the encouragement from the lecturers as well as support from the friendly peers helped me be more confident and I have learned a lot”.

Recalling her interesting experiences during the culture exploring excursions to Hanoi and its surroundings, Mai Chau (Hoa Binh province) and Ha Long (Quang Ninh province), Makoto Kimura stressed that  AsTW 2017 not only made me love Vietnam more, enhanced my understanding of the ASEAN cultures, but also was useful preparation for my future success.

The Ceremony ended with Kyushu University Vice President Yuji Soejima and HUS Rector Nguyễn Văn Nội presenting Certificates of Attendance to the program participants.
