Tohoku University was founded in 1907 as the 3rd Royal University in Japan after two Royal University of Tokyo (1877) and Kyoto Imperial University (1897). The Tohoku University is one of the largest and oldest universities in Japan, including five campuses in Sendai. Since its inception, the University has the Duo Tohoku policy "research - first" and "open-door". The University has 10 higher education faculty, 18 graduate schools, 5 research institutes. The field consists of 10,997 undergraduates, 7,136 graduate students.
