Vietnam Japan University confers degrees upon 105 new graduates

The 2026 Graduation Ceremony marked a significant milestone for 65 Bachelor’s and 40 Master’s graduates, while also becoming the first degree conferral ceremony presided over by Dr. Nguyen Hoang Oanh as Rector of VNU Vietnam Japan University (VJU).

On July 18, Vietnam Japan University, a member university of Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU), held its 2026 Graduation Ceremony at Nguyen Van Dao Hall. The event was attended by representatives from the Embassy of Japan in Vietnam, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), partner universities and enterprises from both Vietnam and Japan, as well as VJU faculty members, students, graduates, and their families.

The ceremony marked the first graduation presided over by Dr. Nguyen Hoang Oanh in his capacity as Rector of VJU. It also took place at a pivotal moment in the University’s development, as VJU builds on more than a decade of achievements and advances toward its vision of becoming a leading international research university, dedicated to educating high-quality human resources for Vietnam, Japan, and the region. This year, VJU conferred degrees to 105 graduates, including 65 Bachelor’s degree recipients and 40 Master’s degree recipients. Many among them were recognized for outstanding achievements in academics, scientific research, international collaboration, and cultural exchange activities.

In his remarks, Dr. Nguyen Hoang Oanh congratulated the graduates on completing academically rigorous programs. He noted that undergraduate students at VJU typically complete between 19 and more than 21 credits each semester, while Master’s students undergo a demanding thesis defense process to demonstrate their research capabilities. These requirements, he said, reflect both the perseverance of VJU students and the University’s commitment to international-quality education.

The Rector also emphasized that learning is a lifelong journey, particularly in an era of rapid technological advancement. Referring to the inspiring story of Mrs. Yagi Noriko, a 62-year-old graduate of the Master’s Program in Area Studies with a specialization in Vietnam Studies, he encouraged graduates to embrace lifelong learning and continuously develop new competencies, including the effective use of artificial intelligence, to meet the evolving demands of the workforce.

According to Dr. Nguyen Hoang Oanh, equipped with strong academic foundations, interdisciplinary skills, and practical experience gained through an international learning environment, VJU’s new graduates are well prepared to pursue careers in Vietnam, Japan, and beyond, or continue their studies at higher levels. He reaffirmed that VJU would remain a lifelong home for its alumni.

“Graduation is not the end, but the beginning of a new chapter. One journey – building your knowledge and capabilities – comes to a close, making way for new aspirations and greater opportunities in your studies, careers, and lives. You will never walk this journey alone. Vietnam Japan University is committed to accompanying you as you continue to grow. Beyond your family, VJU will always be another home where you can return whenever you need to renew your energy, knowledge, and skills.”

For the graduates, the ceremony celebrated years of dedication to learning and research while opening the door to new dreams and opportunities. For VJU, the 2026 Graduation Ceremony not only marked the completion of another academic cohort but also the beginning of a new chapter of engagement with its alumni as they continue their journeys of learning, professional development, and service to society.
