Webometrics 2026 ranks VNU 175th in Asia

According to the second edition of the Webometrics Ranking for 2026, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) ranked 175th in Asia and 756th globally. This marks the fifth consecutive year that VNU has remained among the world's top 700-800 universities, maintaining its position among the world's top 600 higher education institutions by Impact indicator.

In this Webometrics Ranking, VNU continued to hold the No. 1 position in Vietnam, featuring in the world's top 600 for the fourth consecutive year (since 2023) and ranked 578th globally by Impact indicator.

Webometrics is an automated university ranking system that assesses higher education institutions based on their digital presence and the visibility and impact of their academic resources. The ranking is derived from three key indicators: Visibility (Impact), which measures the influence of an institution's websites and online presence; Transparency (Openness), which evaluates the openness of academic resources through Google Scholar profiles; and Excellence, which measures research performance based on scientific publications and citations indexed in the Scopus database.

The current Webometrics Ranking continues to apply the same methodology as in the previous editions without Presence indicator (digital content volume), using a 3-indicator framework: Visibility (Impact) carries the highest weighting at 50%, followed by Excellence at 40%, and Transparency (Openness) at 10%. Under the Transparency indicator, Webometrics has further expanded the number of researcher profiles assessed in Google Scholar to 290 profiles among Top 21-310.
