All six students on Viet Nam’s team competing at the 66th International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) 2025 have won medals, including two gold, three silver, and one bronze.
On the morning of July 19, the Ministry of Education and Training announced the official results of the Vietnamese national team participating in the 66th International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) 2025, held in Sunshine Coast city, Queensland, Australia.
The result placed Viet Nam 9th among participating countries and territories, with all six students earning medals: two gold, three silver, and one bronze.
Specifically, the student achievements are as follows:
Gold medals went to Vo Trong Khai, Grade 12, Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted, Nghe An Province; Tran Minh Hoang, Grade 12, Ha Tinh High School for the Gifted, Ha Tinh Province.
Silver medals went to Nguyen Dang Dung, Grade 12, High School for Gifted Students in Natural Sciences, University of Science, Viet Nam National University, Ha Noi; Nguyen Dinh Tung, Grade 11, High School for Gifted Students in Natural Sciences, University of Science, Viet Nam National University, Ha Noi; Le Phan Duc Man, Grade 12, Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted, Ho Chi Minh City.
Meanwhile, Truong Thanh Xuan, Grade 11, Bac Ninh High School for the Gifted, Bac Ninh Province, won a bronze medal.
With a total score of 188, the Vietnamese team ranked 9th out of 113 participating countries and territories, behind China (1st), the US (2nd), the Republic of Korea (3rd), Poland and Japan tied (tied for 4th), Israel (6th), India (7th), and Singapore (8th).
Compared to the 2024 result (two silver medals, three bronze medals, and one certificate of merit), Viet Nam’s 2025 achievement marked a clear improvement.
The 66th International Mathematical Olympiad took place from July 10 to 20 in Sunshine Coast city, Queensland, Australia, with the participation of over 639 contestants from 113 teams representing countries and territories. This was the second time Australia hosted the IMO, following the first time in 1988.
The total number of medals awarded at IMO 2025 includes 72 gold, 104 silver, and 145 bronze medals.
The closing ceremony of the 66th IMO will take place at 4:00 pm local time in Australia on July 19.
