VNU promotes a strategic tripartite cooperation with Shandong University and Goertek Group in education, research, and innovation

On September 26, 2025, VNU Vice President Pham Bao Son had a meeting and working session with a delegation from Shandong University and Goertek Group (China).

Speaking at the meeting, VNU Vice President Pham Bao Son emphasized that the effective and close cooperation among VNU, Shandong University, and Goertek Group is a vivid example of the growing trend of linking education, science, and technology with businesses in the era of innovation. He noted that the major resolutions of the Communist Party and the Government of Vietnam on promoting science and technology, innovation, and international integration serve as a crucial driving force for VNU to further strengthen partnerships with leading global universities and high-tech enterprises such as Shandong University and Goertek Group.

He proposed that VNU, Shandong University, and Goertek consider establishing a joint laboratory located in Hoa Lac, aimed at supporting high-quality human resource training as well as technology research and development. He emphasized that this laboratory would provide an environment for students to undertake internships, collaborate on research, and develop new technologies — thereby connecting training with practical applications and fostering innovation. At the same time, it would serve as a platform for conducting research on real-world challenges commissioned by Goertek and act as a space for showcasing and demonstrating the group’s cutting-edge technologies.

VNU Vice President Pham Bao Son expressed his belief that this tripartite collaboration between university-university-enterprise would leverage the educational resources and industrial expertise of all parties, promote educational and cultural exchange between China and Vietnam, and jointly cultivate talents equipped with both professional expertise and a global vision.

Shandong University Executive Vice President Wu Zhen highly praised VNU’s position, reputation, and capacity in education and research within Vietnam’s higher education system. He emphasized that, in the context of rapidly advancing globalization in higher education, promoting a tripartite cooperation model between universities and high-tech enterprises is the key to addressing major challenges related to human resource development, knowledge transfer, and innovation promotion. He expressed his confidence that the partnership among Shandong University, VNU, and Goertek Group would pave the way for an effective and sustainable cooperation model. Through this collaboration, the parties will not only work together to train outstanding engineers and young scientists but also co-create valuable scientific outcomes that will benefit all three partners as well as both countries.

Mr. Gao Xiaoguang, Senior Vice President of Goertek Group, affirmed that a global technology enterprise cannot achieve sustainable development without the companionship of universities in talent training and new technology research. For this reason, Goertek has always attached great importance to strategic cooperation with leading educational institutions in Asia, with Vietnam identified as a key partner in its next phase of development.

He expressed his expectation that this tripartite cooperation model would create a complete value chain encompassing education, research, innovation, and production. Goertek is ready to work alongside Shandong University and VNU to develop high-quality human resource training programs, support student internships and start-ups, as well as invest in joint laboratories and collaborative research projects.
