VNU, SKKU, and Samsung Vietnam: Tripartite cooperation in high-tech education and research

On October 9, 2025, in Hoa Lac, VNU President Assoc.Prof.Dr. Hoang Minh Son had a meeting with Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU) President Prof. Ji Beom Yoo, and Samsung Vietnam CEO Mr. Na Ki Hong.

VNU President Hoang Minh Son emphasized that the meeting held special significance, following the successful outcomes of the cooperation agreement signed between VNU and SKKU on August 12, 2025 in the presence of General Secretary To Lam and South Korea Prime Minister Kim Min Seok.

He highly appreciated the proactive spirit and strong commitment demonstrated by both parties, particularly their prompt efforts to concretize the cooperation contents through today’s practical meeting with the participation of Samsung Vietnam, a strategic business partner.

He suggested that the parties discuss a tripartite cooperation model between VNU, SKKU, and Samsung, with the aim of establishing joint training programs linked to internships and employment at Samsung; launching joint research projects in the fields of semiconductors, advanced materials, artificial intelligence, biomedical technology, and information technology. VNU and Sungkyunkwan University will also consider the establishment of a joint research center located in Hoa Lac and supported by Samsung Vietnam.

The head of VNU hoped that the tripartite cooperation between VNU, Sungkyunkwan University, and Samsung Vietnam will yield long-term tangible results, creating momentum for innovation and the integration of Vietnam’s higher education.

SKKU President Ji Beom Yoo emphasized that the meeting is an extremely valuable opportunity to connect higher education with business, a model that SKKU has successfully implemented over the years in collaboration with Samsung. He expressed his confidence that, with the participation of Samsung Vietnam, the three parties will have the opportunity to develop not only academically but also apply research to real-world practices.

He mentioned that SKKU is ready to participate in joint research projects and collaborative training programs between VNU and Samsung. The materialization of previous cooperation agreements with the support of Samsung will be an important step in enhancing the quality of training and research, while also creating real employment opportunities for students. He also highlighted the importance of continuing to leverage the strengths of the cooperation between SKKU and VNU in scientific research and technology application, particularly in the fields of semiconductors and artificial intelligence.

Mr. Na Ki Hong affirmed that, with Samsung's experience in developing high-tech technologies, the collaboration with VNU and SKKU will not only bring benefits to the partners but also have a profound impact on the education and technology industries in Vietnam. He shared that Samsung has always believed in the power of education and scientific research, especially when combined with practical training programs that help students and researchers gain access to advanced knowledge and skills. This collaboration will assist the company in recruiting quality talents while contributing to the development of high-tech industries in Vietnam.

He also emphasized that Samsung will continue to strongly support semiconductor and microchip master's training programs, providing students with opportunities for internships and employment at Samsung, thereby enhancing their skills and creativity. Samsung Vietnam commits to further accompany VNU and SKKU in developing training programs that align with the needs of the international labor market.
