QS WUR Sustainability 2026: VNU climbs 27 places in Knowledge exchange and 103 places in Employability & Opportunities

On November 18, 2025, Quacquarelli Symonds released the ranking results of the QS WUR: Sustainability 2026 for 1,994 higher education institutions worldwide. Accordingly, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) ranked 374th globally and 77th in Asia.

The QS WUR: Sustainability assesses and ranks higher education institutions based on their commitment to pursuing sustainable development in alignment with national responsibilities. This ranking highlights the extent to which universities contribute to Environmental Impact, Social Impact, and Governance.

In the QS WUR: Sustainability 2026 edition, VNU improved its scores across all the indicators of Environmental Impact, Social Impact, and Governance subcategories, resulting in an increase in its overall ranking score.

That the QS WUR: Sustainability 2026 ranked 215 new higher education institutions made it more competitive. This caused a slight decline in VNU’s ranking position compared to 2025; however, all its ranking scores steadily increased across all the evaluating subcategories.

Ranked 215th globally, VNU’s Governance was its highest-ranked indicator thanks to its commitment to transparency, ethics, accountability, and efficiency in governance and operation activities.

Ranked 458th globally, VNU’s Environmental Impact was evaluated based on its efforts to change the world towards the better through research in environmental science, climate change, and the impact of alumni.

Ranked 406th globally, VNU’s Social impact was evaluated based on its action programs aimed at improving society, sharing knowledge, and training socially responsible graduates.

Also in this ranking edition, ranked 162nd globally (an increase of 27 places compared to 2025), VNU’s Knowledge exchange continues to be its highest-performing indicator. This marks an increase in the ranking score of this indicator for a third consecutive edition, demonstrating VNU’s growing contributions to and influence in research collaboration with both domestic and international academic communities, sharing knowledge to promote education growth, as well as VNU’s readiness for global research partnership. Additionally, VNU’s Employability and Opportunities was ranked 474th – an increase of 103 places. Overall, five out of VNU’s evaluated indicators were ranked among the global top 500.

The above-named ranking results of VNU once again demonstrate the appropriate governance approach by VNU’s leaders as well as the efforts of all its staff, scientists, and students in creating and disseminating new knowledge, conducting cutting-edge scientific research, and committing to education for sustainable development and community engagement.
