VNU plans to send 15,000 students to Hoa Lac for the 2026-2027 academic year, an increase of approximately 2.5 times compared to the current number.
VNU President Bui The Duy recently held a meeting with training units operating within VNU town in Hoa Lac.
According to the plan, from the 2026-2027 academic year onwards, approximately 15,000 students will be studying at Hoa Lac campus.
Students come from the following training institutions: Vietnam-Japan University, University of Law, University of Technology, University of Medicine and Pharmacy, University of Education, International School, School of Interdisciplinary Sciences and Arts, and University of Science.
Next academic year will also be the first year that approximately 900 first-year students from the University of Social sciences and Humanity will begin their studies at Hoa Lac.
VNU plans to focus its undergraduate and postgraduate training activities on Hoa Lac in the coming period. Simultaneously, the student enrollment will be adjusted accordingly, with students from the High School of Science Education (HES) returning to study in the city center.
According to statistics, there are currently nearly 6,000 students from VNU studying in Hoa Lac, coming from various training units within the system.
Meanwhile, VNU currently has 12 universities offering undergraduate programs, along with several secondary and high schools, with a student body of approximately 80,000.
According to the plan, the investment project to build VNU campus in Hoa Lac includes 23 component projects with a scale of approximately 65,000 students.

Alongside expanding its training scale, VNU is continuing to improve the transportation infrastructure and service systems within the university urban area.
In the near future, VNU will coordinate with the Hanoi People's Committee to strengthen bus routes connecting the inner city and Hoa Lac, and simultaneously develop electric buses and electric bicycles within the campus to support students' convenient transportation within the campus.
The dormitory and student housing system is also being expanded. By 2026, the residential area is expected to accommodate more than 10,000 students, including around 5,000 places in on-campus dormitories, while the remaining capacity will be arranged through partnerships with local providers to ensure safe and high-quality off-campus housing.
