At the working session, the leaders of both sides briefed about their respective strengths, development orientations, priority areas, and potential for collaboration in education, scientific research, innovation, technology transfer, and the development of high-quality human resources.
VNU President Le Quan emphasized that VNU is currently collaborating with approximately 400 prestigious universities worldwide. In addition to the long-standing partnerships with institutions in the United States, France, Ireland, Singapore, and Canada; VNU has recently expanded cooperation with several leading universities in China, Russia, Japan, etc. to develop new academic and research programs. In the context of globalization and deep international integration, coupled with innovation, the internationalization of education is one of VNU’s strategic priorities in the coming period.

VNU’s new strategy for faculty development is taking shape, aiming to build a high-quality academic ecosystem. A key focus of this strategy is the development of a core team of 500 leading scholars, including 50 top-tier experts in key disciplines. This is a central strategic goal to enhance VNU’s capacity for research and knowledge transfer, aligning with international standards. VNU is strongly committed to becoming a center of excellence in education and research with regional and global influence. Internationalization at VNU goes beyond expanding international cooperation; it entails deep integration of global academic standards into all aspects of its training, research, and university governance.
Regarding university governance, Prof. Le Quan shared that at VNU, talented individuals are nurtured and those facing difficulties are supported. VNU actively seeks funding sources to support these efforts as its mission is to foster talents for the nation and to help students overcome challenges to succeed.

VinUni Vice Chairwoman Dr. Le Mai Lan highly commended VNU’s educational and research activities. She expressed strong expectations for the implementation of interdisciplinary research projects, joint training programs, the utilization of shared data resources, and the integration of both institutions' innovation ecosystems. On behalf of Vingroup, she acknowledged and appreciated VNU President Prof. Dr. Le Quan’s support for various initiatives of the Group. The support includes his trust in the vision behind Vingroup’s VinFuture Prize and several green transition initiatives. She was particularly impressed by the strategic vision and resolute leadership by VNU’s leaders.
The collaboration between VNU, VinUni, businesses, and localities serves as a model for the “four-party linkage” framework, connecting the two higher education institutions with the state and investors (enterprises) in the shared direction of innovation, internationalization, and entrepreneurship. The partnership between VNU and VinUni is expected to contribute significantly to elevating the quality and global standing of Vietnam’s higher education system.
As part of the working session, the senior leaders of both institutions discussed several aspects of university governance, namely faculty development, priority areas, university rankings, and the development of academic resources. VNU President Le Quan commended the proactive engagement of scholars from both sides, who had jointly proposed 19 prospective initiatives. VNU President Prof. Le Quan and VinUni Vice Chairwoman Dr. Le Mai Lan agreed on the plan to immediately identify the most feasible initiatives for submitting to both sides’ leaders for approval in early July.
