The Organizing Committee selected and awarded prizes to 145 projects, including 14 first prizes, 29 second prizes, 44 third prizes, 58 fourth prizes and selected projects to participate in the 2026 International Science and Technology Competition. Hanoi is a locality with outstanding achievements with 11 projects winning awards.
Students from VNU HUS High School for Gifted won 6 out of 14 First Prizes at the National Science and Engineering Competition for the 2025–2026 academic year.
This year, there are 242 projects participating in the competition, an increase of more than 30 projects compared to the previous year. Among these, there are 215 projects of high school students and 27 projects of secondary school students.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Thai Van Tai, Director of the Department of General Education, Ministry of Education and Training, Standing Deputy Head of the Steering Committee of the contest, said that the contest left a clear professional mark.
The projects are not only diverse in fields but also demonstrate sharp thinking, closely following current issues, associated with innovation and digital transformation orientation. Prominent is the strong presence of technology, with dozens of projects on system software, embedded systems, robots and smart machines; many products applying artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things to solve practical problems.
According to Mr. Tai, these results affirm that the competition is not only an academic playground but also contributes to orienting research capacity, nurturing the spirit of innovation for students, meeting the requirements of developing high-quality human resources in the coming period.
Prof. Dr. Pham Thanh Huy, Head of the Judging Panel, said that the number of topics this year is rich and spread across many fields. Professional quality has been clearly improved, many topics show systematic research thinking, methods, specific data and comparisons. In particular, the spirit of innovation and creativity and the ability to connect with reality are clearly shown.
Fields such as medicine, natural sciences - technology, engineering, information technology and social science all have many noteworthy topics, in which the application of artificial intelligence and digital technology to solve practical problems is increasingly clear.
