Entering the era of national ascent and prosperity, VNU is deeply conscious of its pioneering responsibility. 2026 marks the inaugural year for the implementation of the 14th National Party Congress Resolution and the 2025 Law on Higher Education – a period where high-quality human resources and talents are reaffirmed as one of the three strategic breakthroughs, with science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation serving as central drivers. As a pillar of the higher education system, VNU stands ready to transform the Party’s major orientations into concrete and impactful actions. Our Development Strategy for the 2026-2035 period sets the goal for VNU to join the Top 100 in Asia by 2030, with at least one academic field reaching the global Top 100.
VNU’s vision extends far beyond mere rankings. Our strategy outlines ambitious breakthroughs aligned with the national development strategy to best fulfill our assigned mission: developing VNU into an elite research university that serves as a premier hub for talent training, research, innovation, and strategic consultancy for the nation and the region. VNU has identified three strategic breakthroughs: building an optimal and constructive governance system; attracting and developing elite intellectuals; and constructing a modern knowledge and technology urban area in Hoa Lac (VNUpolis). On this foundation, we are focusing on transition toward an elite education model integrated with research excellence and innovation. Leveraging our strengths in basic sciences, VNU prioritizes the development of strategic technologies and interdisciplinary sciences – the keys to solving major challenges facing the Capital and the nation – while pioneering the mastery and leadership of the digital and Artificial Intelligence era.
