On the morning of November 8, VNU University of Languages and International Studies held a ceremony to celebrate its 70th anniversary (1955-2025) and receive the First Class Labor Medal.
VNU University of Languages and International Studies (ULIS) was formerly Hanoi University of Foreign Languages and International Studies. Starting with 2 majors of Russian and Chinese, the school is now teaching 13 foreign languages with 16 undergraduate training majors, 12 master's programs and 8 doctoral programs.

With outstanding achievements over the past 70 years, the school was honored to be awarded the First Class Independence Medal in 2014, the First Class Labor Medal in 2001... Many collectives and individuals of the school were awarded noble prizes; the quality of teaching and training of the University of Foreign Languages is increasingly solid and has a brand. Many generations of students of the school have become teachers, officials, excellent leaders at central and local agencies and domestic and international enterprises...
At the ceremony, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan awarded the First Class Labor Medal to the University of Foreign Languages - Vietnam National University, Hanoi.
At the ceremony, VNU Vice President Dao Thanh Truong stated that in implementing Resolution 71-NQ/TW of the Politburo, VNU would direct and provide comprehensive support to the University of Foreign Languages to continue affirming its pioneering role in innovation with the following guidelines:
First, reviewing the mission and vision of the University, transforming its strategy so that the University of Foreign Languages, VNU, continues to be a leading and pioneering unit in VNU and the Vietnamese education system, meeting the changes and requirements of the Party, State, and the education sector.
Second, radically reforming teaching methods towards developing self-learning, independent thinking, and creativity; integrating research and practice, and applying objective and honest assessment forms. Promoting the integration of advanced technologies, digital skills, and artificial intelligence into teaching and experiential activities, helping learners to develop technological thinking, creativity, and adaptability early.
Third, building a modern, internationalized learning environment, making English the second language while also expanding to regional languages to enhance international exchange. Developing a team of highly qualified lecturers, teachers, and managers who are capable, apply technology, and master global educational trends.
The leaders of the University of Foreign Languages said that in the coming time, the school will focus on innovating the training program in line with social needs and international standards. Along with that, building a team of elite lecturers, combining knowledge - culture - technology. Strengthening international cooperation, expanding opportunities for study, internship, and student exchange.
