China Higher Education Expo 2025: Strengthening academic connections between Vietnam and China

On June 12, 2025, as part of the cooperation between Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) and its Chinese partners, on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and China and the Vietnam-China Year of People-to-People Exchange 2025, VNU, in collaboration with the Chinese Scholarship Council (CSC), organized the China Higher Education Expo 2025.

The China Higher Education Expo 2025 serves as a vivid manifestation of the strong and time-honored friendship between Vietnam and China, reflecting the “Six Enhancements” vision by the top leaders of both countries: enhanced political trust, more substantive defense and security cooperation, deeper economic and trade collaboration, more comprehensive cooperation in science and technology, closer people-to-people exchanges, and better control and resolution of differences.

The Expo attracted the participation of 28 leading Chinese universities, including such prestigious institutions as Fudan University, Nanjing University, Xiamen University, and Beihang University (Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics), etc. The event provided Vietnamese students with direct access to a wide range of academic programs, attractive scholarship opportunities, and insights into China’s advanced learning environment. Beyond promoting scholarships and study-abroad programs, the Expo also served as a platform for universities from both countries to exchange ideas, share experiences, and explore new academic cooperation opportunities.

In his opening remarks at the Expo, VNU Vice President Dao Thanh Truong expressed his pleasure at the official and effective cooperation with the Chinese Scholarship Council. He hoped that the Expo would lead to the establishment of more student and faculty exchange programs, joint research projects, and various other forms of collaboration, thereby contributing to the enhancement of higher education quality in both countries. He also expressed his hope that new partnerships formed during the Expo and the Vietnam-China Education Cooperation Roundtable Discussions on June 13 would go beyond the field of education, expanding into such areas as science and technology, innovation, and knowledge transfer to meet the development needs of the society and enterprises.

Mr. Wang Qun, Minister Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Vietnam, expressed his delight at attending the Education Expo co-organized by VNU and the Chinese Scholarship Council. He stated that China and Vietnam are close neighbors and good friends, sharing mountains and rivers, united as comrades and partners with common ideals. According to him, the China-Vietnam relations are currently entering a glorious stage, moving into a new era of building a community with a shared strategic future. The educational cooperation between the two countries is also entering a new phase of development, expanding both in scale and depth. He was confident that this Expo would further promote educational exchanges and youth engagement between Vietnam and China.

Ms. Tian Lulu, Deputy Secretary-General of the Chinese Scholarship Council, shared that the 28 leading Chinese universities visiting Vietnam aimed not only to showcase the progress of China’s higher education and study-abroad policies but also to enhance exchanges and deepen cooperation with Vietnamese educational partners through this event, thereby elevating the bilateral educational collaboration to a new level.
