QS WUR 2026: VNU ranks 223rd globally for Employment Outcomes and 323rd globally for Sustainability

On June 19, 2025, Quacquarelli Symonds released the edition of the QS World University Rankings 2026 (QS WUR 2026). Accordingly, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) has made a leap of over 100 places to feature among the world’s 761–770 best higher education institutions - its highest position ever in the QS WUR. This achievement resulted from VNU’s comprehensive performance across 5 out of the 9 ranking indicators with Employment Outcomes (ranked 223rd globally) and Sustainability (ranked 323rd globally) as the best among those of the ranked Vietnamese institutions.

In this edition, the QS WUR 2026 evaluated 1,501 higher education institutions (including 112 institutions ranked for the first time) out of a total of 8,467 participating institutions from 106 countries and territories.

According to the QS WUR 2026 indicators, VNU ranked within the global top 600 in five key criteria: Employment Outcomes, Sustainability, Employer Reputation, Academic Reputation, and International Research Network. Notably, VNU continued to be highly recognized by employers in two indicators: Employment Outcomes (ranked 223rd globally and No. 1 in Vietnam with a score of 68.7 - an increase of 8.6 points compared to the previous edition) and Employer Reputation (ranked 435th globally with a score of 33.0 - a rise of 37 places). This affirms a strong demand for VNU graduates in the global labor market, aligning with the university’s target that 95% of its graduates will secure employment within 12 months after graduation by 2025.

Additionally, in the QS Sustainability Rankings, VNU’s Sustainability indicator saw a remarkable improvement, becoming its highest-scored category with 69.4 points and 323rd place globally. VNU’s Academic Reputation and International Research Network indicators also showed significant progress, jumping 50 and 58 places respectively; reflecting its growing global academic recognition and international research collaboration.

The QS WUR 2026 results are a vivid evidence of VNU’s strong commitment to successfully implementing its Development Strategy toward 2030, with a vision to 2045. VNU is steadily transforming its strategic goals into measurable, internationally recognized outcomes, positioning itself not only as a symbol of outstanding graduate quality acknowledged by the global labor market but also as a prestigious academic hub with a strong sense of responsibility and a wide-spreading brand within the broader community.

In the QS WUR 2026, apart from VNU, nine other Vietnamese higher education institutions were also ranked, namely Duy Tan University, Ton Duc Thang University, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-HCM), Van Lang University, Can Tho University, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry, Hue University, and the University of Da Nang.

The QS WUR 2026 applied its established methodology, consisting of nine indicators with the same weights as in the previous ranking.
