349 full-time university students and 37 masters and resident doctors from VNU UMP graduated

The enrollment of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Vietnam National University, Hanoi in the past 10 years has increased 25 times, with 8 excellent graduates for the first time.

For the first time, Hanoi National University has 8 excellent medical students graduating

On July 30, the University of Medicine and Pharmacy - Vietnam National University, Hanoi held a graduation ceremony for more than 349 full-time university students and 37 masters and resident doctors.

113 students graduated with honors or higher (accounting for 33%), of which 8 students achieved excellent grades (one in Medicine, Medical Imaging Technology, 6 in Dentistry).

According to Professor, Doctor, People's Physician Le Ngoc Thanh, Principal of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, this year's graduates and students are all those who have studied during the most severe period of the COVID-19 pandemic.

During the 2020-2022 years, when the epidemic covered the whole country, students had to adapt to the form of prolonged online learning, lacking practical conditions, especially in clinical requirements such as Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, etc.

This affects learning progress, learning quality and ability to complete practical requirements on time. However, with the efforts of the school and learners to adapt, the graduation rate has reached over 82%. The graduation rate of postgraduate students, including masters and resident doctors, is over 87%.

According to the school's leadership, this is a big step forward because before that, most medical students graduated at a good and good level, the rate of excellent results was very modest due to the strict training characteristics and comprehensive requirements.

Notably, this year, the first 3 students completed the resident doctor program, including 2 students with good grades and 34 master's students in 3 key majors (Gender, Dentistry, Dentistry - Maxillofacial) graduated.

Admissions to the University of Medicine and Pharmacy for 10 years increased 25 times

Speaking at the ceremony, on behalf of the Ministry of Health's leaders, Dr. Nguyen Tri Thuc - Deputy Minister of Health acknowledged and highly appreciated the results that the school has achieved over the past time.

After nearly 15 years of growth and development, especially 5 years since its official establishment, the school has made great strides, affirming its reputation and quality compared to medical schools across the country.

In addition, the University of Medicine and Pharmacy has also made remarkable progress in the scale and quality of training. Admissions in the past 10 years have increased 25 times, opening many new postgraduate programs; the school's position in health science has also been affirmed through the fact that key officials are holding positions and roles as chairmen and professors of the medical industry; members of the national medical council, contributing to planning the country's medical development strategy in the digital transformation era.

In particular, to implement Resolution 18-NQ/TW, Hanoi National University has issued a decision to transfer the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital (Hanoi National University) to the University of Medicine and Pharmacy - Hanoi National University, this is a strategic step, optimizing the hospital - school model, creating an organic connection between theory and practice.

The Deputy Minister said that in the context of the complicated world situation and the increasing demand for health care of people, the Ministry of Health has been implementing many important strategies and policies on training high-quality medical human resources.

"I hope that in the coming time, the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Vietnam National University, Hanoi will continue to promote the achievements it has achieved and focus on a number of contents including: promoting the revolution of medical technology and innovating medical education; building and developing a model hospital - school model, closely combining hospitals and schools; promoting deep and substantial international integration, including the content of enhancing foreign language learning and considering English as the second language" - the Deputy Minister expressed.
