President of Peking University Prof. Gong Qihuang expressed his pleasure and honor in welcoming Assoc.Prof. Hoang Minh Son and the VNU delegation. He noted that this meeting held significant meaning, providing an opportunity for the two universities to discuss concrete ideas for cooperation and to pursue practical collaborative activities in the near future. Notably, these cooperative initiatives are taking place on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of Vietnam-China diplomatic relations and the Year of Vietnam-China Humanistic Exchange.
Prof. Gong Qihuang also expressed his anticipation of the upcoming working visit to VNU later this month. He hoped that the collaboration would not only lay the foundation for joint initiatives between Peking University and VNU but also contribute to deepening education and training cooperation, reflecting the overall development of the bilateral relations at the current stage.
Speaking at the meeting, VNU President Hoang Minh Son expressed his gratitude to Peking University’s leadership for the warm welcome and emphasized the special importance of the relationship between the two institutions. He stated that, as digital technology and artificial intelligence are bringing profound changes to all areas of life, especially in the education system, the Beijing Forum initiated by Peking University serves as a key academic highlight, acting as a bridge to jointly contribute to building a shared community.

He emphasized that the Party and the State of Vietnam have consistently identified science, technology, education, and training as top national priorities - the foundation and key drivers for sustainable development. In recent years, Vietnam’s Party and State have issued important policies, notably Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW on the development of science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation, and Resolution No. 71-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in education and training development.
In this context, VNU was entrusted with the pioneering mission of training high-quality human resources, advancing science and technology, and promoting innovation - key areas that determine the country’s future development. This is both a great honor and a profound responsibility that VNU is fully aware of and wholeheartedly committed to fulfilling. To realize this noble mission, President Hoang Minh Son stressed that VNU needs the companionship, cooperation, and intellectual exchange of leading international universities and research institutes, including Peking University, to jointly create knowledge, spread values, and make meaningful contributions to the sustainable development of humanity.
VNU President Hoang Minh Son added that VNU is accelerating the development of its university town in Hoa Lac, with the goal of establishing a modern university town that integrates education, research, innovation, and partnerships with enterprises and leading universities both domestically and internationally. He expressed his hope that VNU and Peking University would further promote their collaboration, jointly implementing training and research activities at all levels to address major global challenges, particularly those in high-tech and strategic technology fields.
At the meeting, the presidents of the two universities also discussed the development of joint training programs and the exchange of students, graduates, doctoral candidates, staff, and faculty. Additionally, they agreed to share experiences in establishing and operating key laboratories; exchange models of innovation ecosystems; and collaborate in building an ecosystem that integrates education, research, application, and the commercialization of scientific and technological products.

Both Assoc.Prof. Hoang Minh Son and Prof. He Guangcai expressed their belief that, amid the strengthening of comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and China, the support of the two governments would help promote full-scale cooperation between VNU and Peking University. The two universities affirmed their determination to implement the previously signed cooperation agreement and to jointly carry out academic and research activities, reflecting their social responsibility as well as the capacity and standing of the leading universities in the region.
Prof. He Guangcai expressed his respect for VNU President Hoang Minh Son’s working visit to Peking University. He believed that, with the commitment of the leadership on both sides, cooperative activities would soon be developed and implemented, playing an important role in elevating Vietnam–China educational cooperation to a new level. He also believed that the collaboration between the two universities fully reflects the guidance and aspirations of the leaders of both countries at the current stage.
Informing Prof. He Guangcai about the proposed areas of cooperation discussed earlier with Prof. Gong Qihuang, VNU President Hoang Minh Son once again affirmed VNU’s determination to strengthen collaboration with leading Chinese educational institutions such as Peking University in high-quality human resources training, new technology research and development, promoting sustainable development, and jointly addressing global challenges through international cooperation and interdisciplinary dialogue.

He also extended an invitation to Prof. He Guangcai and Peking University’s scientists to visit VNU Town in Hoa Lac.
Earlier on, on November 7, 2025, VNU President Hoang Minh Son and the VNU delegation attended the opening session of the 22nd Beijing Forum.
At this forum, VNU President Hoang Minh Son emphasized that digital technology and artificial intelligence are bringing profound changes to all aspects of life, particularly within the education system. He expressed his honor to participate in the Beijing Forum 2025, where experts and scholars not only have the opportunity to exchange and learn from one another but also to share valuable experiences in shaping the future of higher education. The forum also provides a platform for scientists from leading universities to engage in dialogue, creating new opportunities for cooperation aimed at enhancing the quality of education and training in the digital era. VNU expressed its desire and commitment to closely collaborate with Peking University, as well as other top Chinese universities, in high-quality human resources training, new technology research and development, promoting sustainable development, and jointly addressing global challenges through international cooperation and interdisciplinary dialogue.
