VNU’s strong commitment to social responsibility and community service

Demonstrating a strong sense of social responsibility, solidarity, and community engagement, VNU promptly organized a launch ceremony to support for central and highlands residents affected by severe flooding. This activity not only promoted the spirit of mutual assistance across the entire VNU system but also reaffirmed VNU’s pioneering role in community-oriented activities.

Immediately following the launch, VNU established a working delegation led directly by VNU President, accompanied by representatives from the Trade Union and leading scientists, to visit and assess the situation in the most severely affected localities.

The fieldwork served both to encourage and share the difficulties faced by residents and to provide an opportunity for experts to conduct on-site surveys, update disaster response situations, and propose long-term, sustainable scientific and technological solutions tailored to local conditions.

Simultaneously, VNU Trade Union effectively mobilized staff, lecturers, and employees across the university to actively participate in practical community support initiatives. A notable example is the construction of staff housing for teachers at Hien Da High School (Cam Khe Commune, Phu Tho Province), with a total investment of nearly VND 865 million, helping to improve living and working conditions for educators in disadvantaged areas.

In 2025, VNU Youth Union and Student Association implemented numerous community volunteer activities, enhancing social responsibility and fostering the proactive and volunteer spirit of VNU students. These activities were diverse and practical, providing students with opportunities to develop professional skills while contributing meaningfully to social welfare, public safety, and socio-economic development in Hanoi and other localities nationwide.

On-campus volunteering, especially blood donation programs, has been maintained regularly, attracting wide student participation and achieving significant impact. Meanwhile, volunteer initiatives in remote, border, and island regions continued through key programs and campaigns such as Youth Month, Exam Support, Summer Volunteer Campaign, and Warm Winter Campaign, with a focus on applying professional expertise, transferring scientific knowledge, providing IT and digital skills training for local communities.

In the past year, several notable projects were successfully implemented, including the “Learning with VNU Students” project with 300 volunteers organizing 120 classes; blood donation events collecting nearly 1,000 units of blood; deployment of the “Digital Literacy for All” teams; the Summer Green Campaign mobilizing over VND 1 billion and constructing 21 youth works in Sơn La Province. In addition, VNU Youth Union and Student Association mobilized students to serve at major national events and organized fundraising to support residents in disaster-affected areas, with a total amount of VND 260 million.
