VNU and EVN sign cooperation agreement on promoting training, research, and digital transformation

On December 25, 2025, in Hanoi, the signing ceremony of a cooperation agreement between Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) and Vietnam Electricity (EVN) was held, marking the beginning of a new phase of collaboration between the two institutions in education and training, scientific research, innovation, and digital transformation.

Speaking at the ceremony, VNU President Hoang Minh Son emphasized that VNU is the country’s leading center for training, scientific research, and knowledge transfer, with strong advantages in science and technology, innovation, and high-quality human resources. The signing of the cooperation agreement with EVN not only strengthens the linkage between the university and a major national enterprise, but also creates favorable conditions for VNU’s research and training outcomes to be effectively applied in practice, contributing to the development of the energy sector and socio-economic growth.

He affirmed that the cooperation agreement represents the practical implementation of the Party Central Committee’s Resolutions, especially Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW, Resolution No. 68-NQ/TW, and Resolution No. 71-NQ/TW, concretizing the major guidelines on the development of science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, and education and training. He further stressed that VNU considers its partnership with EVN in training high-quality human resources as the fulfillment of a national responsibility shared between a key state-owned enterprise and the country’s leading education and research institution. VNU’s leadership hoped that this cooperation model would become a highlight in strengthening the linkage among universities, enterprises, and the state, making practical contributions to enhancing the competitiveness of the national economy.

He also shared that during the 2020–2025 period, more than 3,000 EVN staff members participated in the training and professional development programs organized by VNU; over 100 thematic workshops on governance, digital transformation, and sustainable development were held, attracting more than 5,000 participants. Since 2022, EVN has also granted 200 scholarships to VNU students, with a total value of VND 2 billion.

EVN President and CEO Nguyen Anh Tuan affirmed that, amid energy transition, digital transformation, and the growing requirements for sustainable development, EVN places a special emphasis on the role of science and technology, innovation, and high-quality human resources. In addition to practical experience, EVN requires close collaboration with leading education and research institutions to strengthen its theoretical and academic foundations, thereby effectively implementing the power sector’s strategic tasks.

EVN is also accelerating the adoption of new technologies to enhance its management and operational efficiency. At the same time, the requirements to ensure energy security, promote energy transition and sustainable development are setting increasingly demanding tasks in planning, investment, system operation, and human resources quality.

From that reality, strengthening linkages between a state-owned enterprise - a pillar in the national economy and VNU - the country’s leading higher education institution, is considered an appropriate approach, contributing to a closer alignment between education and research and development needs in production and business operations.

The cooperation agreement between VNU and EVN focuses on several key directions, including joint training and human resource development; cooperation in scientific research and technology transfer; promotion of innovation and digital transformation; and the implementation of programs and research projects aligned with EVN’s practical needs and national development strategies.

Both sides commit to close coordination in concretizing the cooperation contents through annual implementation plans, ensuring a strong linkage between training - research and practical production and business activities, thereby making practical contributions to achieving the sustainable development goals and enhancing the economy’s self-reliance capacity.
