SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY AND INNOVATION

Vietnam Japan University is strategically oriented to become a leading research university in Vietnam and Asia, specializing in Interdisciplinary Social Sciences and Advanced Technology and Engineering.

To achieve this, VJU is developing a diverse and highly international education - research ecosystem. Significant researchers (faculty and researchers), PhD candidates, and excellent students are brought together to address scientific and technological challenges, from fundamental research to applied and practical solutions, with active participation from Japanese partners.

Over the years, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has closely supported VJU’s research development through investments in modern laboratories and advanced equipment, the facilitation of practical research projects, and the promotion of collaboration with leading Japanese experts and scientists.

After more than a decade of development, VJU has achieved notable results, with over 360 papers published in prestigious ISI/Scopus-indexed journals out of nearly 530 scientific publications. In addition, the University has secured copyright recognition for two intellectual property products out of nearly ten registered.

Looking ahead, VJU will continue to strengthen its science and technology capacity by developing advanced laboratories and strong research groups, while further enhancing its international research ecosystem rooted in the shared cultural values of Vietnam and Japan.

COOPERATION FOR DEVELOPMENT

International collaboration is a strategic pillar in the development orientation of VJU.

The University continuously expands its network of partnerships with prestigious universities, organizations, and research institutes both domestically and internationally, especially in Japan, to enhance the quality of education and promote research activities. As of December 2025, VJU has established partnerships with 50 universities and research institutes, along with 38 enterprises across Vietnam, Japan, Germany, Malaysia, and the Philippines. Each partnership is formalized and implemented in a structured and effective manner through Memoranda of Understanding (MOU), providing valuable opportunities for faculty members, staff, and students to advance their expertise, expand research collaboration, and strengthen professional competencies.

Furthermore, VJU’s academic programs are co-coordinated by leading Japanese universities such as the University of Tokyo, the University of Osaka, Waseda University, etc. From September 2026, this support will be transferred to a support system run by the Vietnam Japan University Consortium (VJU Consortium), marking a new milestone in VJU’s international collaboration.
